Google Scholar Profiles

A Google Scholar profile allows you to keep track of your publications and citations. Your Google Scholar profile will be public and visible to everyone once you set it up and choose to publish it.

How to set up your Google Scholar Profile

  • You'll need a Google account before you start, if you don't have one already you can create one here.
  • Go to https://scholar.google.com and click on the 'My Profile' link at the top of the page.
  • On the first screen, add your affiliation information and your TCD email address, so Google Scholar can confirm your account. Add keywords that are relevant to your research interests, so others can find you when browsing a subject area. Provide a link to your TCD profile webpage or your personal website, if you have one.
  • Add your publications. Google will suggest publications that they think belong to you here  be careful if there are other authors that have the same name as you! If you do choose any articles that don't belong to you, don't worry, you will be able to delete them later.
  • Click “Next,” and your basic profile is complete!

How to update your profile

  • To update your existing Google Scholar profile, go to Go to https://scholar.google.com and click on the 'My Profile' link at the top of the page.
  • To add new publications, click on the plus icon under your name and profile picture:
  • Select 'Add Articles' and search for you article. Tick the boxes beside any articles you want to add to your profile and click on the blue tick box when you are done.
  • If you can't find your article in the search, you can choose 'Add Article Manually' instead and fill in the information yourself
